Loan Signing

What Does a Notary Signing Agent Do?

The role of an NSA in loan and real estate packages, without legal advice.

A notary signing agent (NSA) handles loan and real estate signing appointments. The agent presents the package, points out signature and date lines, completes notarizations, checks the set, and returns it according to the assignment.

An NSA is still a notary, not an attorney. The agent should not explain the legal effect of loan terms, advise you to sign or not sign, or choose documents for you.

Title companies, escrow officers, lenders, attorneys, and signing services typically send the package and fee with the order. Borrowers should still bring identification and any required witnesses.
